The one-day health and Safety awareness course is for people who are working, or are considering a career in construction industry. The H&S course gives an ‘awareness’ of construction and civil engineering health and safety and how it affects the day to day working of construction site. It can be used as a prerequisite for the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Health, safety and environment touch screen test or just as repeat refresher training. This course is the first step towards a CSCS Labourers Card (Green Card) and to the progressive CITB Site Safety Plus courses that range from operative training, up to Supervisor, Site Manager and Director Health and Safety courses.

Be aware of the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if not sure. Feel obliged to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident. Their responsibilities for their own safety and the safety of others. Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled. How everyone can help achieve better practical standards of safety on site.

The minimum requirement is a good understanding of written and spoken English. Candidates should be working or planning to work within the construction industry.
If you work as a labourer, you can take the Construction Skills route when applying for the new Green Card. You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved at least a Level 1 Site Safety Plus Health and Safety Awareness Course. You must also pass the CITB operatives online test within two years’ prior of applying for a new card.
Succesful candidates will be able to purchase the CSCS Labourers Green Card from CITB.
Government legislation now requires that labourers working on designated construction sites must have a relevant CSCS card
