HealthTec Thames Valley is a new experiential learning facility located at our Aylesbury campus, which opened in September 2017.
Bringing health and education together in a new learning environment, HealthTec Thames Valley creates interactive, real-life simulation scenarios, helping school children to understand more about the career paths and study opportunities available in the healthcare sector. If you have any questions or want to get in touch, fill out our contact form below.
What is HealthTec Thames Valley?
HealthTecThames Valley enables schools to offer an engaging, interactive learning experience to their students.
- Interactive, real-life simulation scenarios
- Specially constructed sets
- Mirroring everyday workplace experiences in the health and care sector
Students can follow real-life simulation scenarios, gaining an understanding of the roles played by health professionals by following a patient pathway. For example, a simulation could be the immediate aftermath of a road traffic accident, with Paramedics on scene and then moving on to caring for the injured in an ambulance. The scenario might then follow patients through A&E all the way through to specialist rehabilitation.
The HealthTec team deliver scenarios to support programmes of study in consultation with teaching staff. The simulated scenarios help to embed and underpin key learning.
HealthTec Thames Valley is funded by Health Education England Thames Valley - an arm’s length governmental body.
The activities and experiences offered at HealthTec Thames Valley can be linked to all areas of the curriculum and can assist schools in meeting assessment requirements in subjects as diverse as Geography, English, Maths, IT as well as Health and Social Care and Sciences. In addition, attendance at HealthTec Thames Valley will help your school to demonstrate engagement with employers, help meet statutory careers guidance requirements, PSHCE and personal well-being.
