HealthTec Thames Valley has just celebrated its launch event at Aylesbury College. Providing a new experiential learning facility based at the College, HealthTec opens in September 2017 bringing health and education together in a new learning environment. Creating interactive, real-life simulation scenarios, HealthTec will help school children to understand more about the career paths and study opportunities available in the healthcare sector.
The launch event showcased the immersive interactive technology to local school teachers and a range of organisations in the health sector.
Adam Poland, HealthTec Centre Manager, said “It was very exciting to launch our new HealthTec centre to some key stakeholders this week. HealthTec is aiming to be the go-to centre for careers advice and practical hands-on experience for the Health and Social Care sector. The engagement, enthusiasm and positivity that surrounded the launch event just goes to demonstrate the value that this centre will have to the local area.”
Once the new facility is open, students will be able to follow real-life simulation scenarios, gaining an understanding of the roles played by health professionals by following a patient pathway. For example, a simulation could be the immediate aftermath of a road traffic accident, with Paramedics on scene and then moving on to caring for the injured in an ambulance. The scenario might then follow patients through A&E all the way through to specialist rehabilitation.
