Plumbing Students Benefit from Industry Interaction

Level 1 and 2 plumbing students at the Wycombe campus have recently benefited from the Headstart student training programme which has been specifically tailored for further education colleges by MIRA showers.  The programme enables MIRA trained lecturers to work together with colleges to help support the next generation of plumbers and installers.

The half day Headstart programme informed students about MIRA’s range of electric and digital showers and pumps as well as the company’s history.  It was well received by students and college lecturers with comments such as; “It was a very informative course” and “I learnt a great deal from it.”

“This is one example of how plumbing students are kept up to date with the industry and its products and the interaction the college enjoys with companies who are regularly invited in to talk to students,” said plumbing lecturer Jamie Cousins.  Training staff from Alpha Boilers, Ideal Boilers, McAlpine plumbing products and Stuart Turner pumps are all regular visitors to the plumbing department.  Additionally, students take part in plumbing events and competitions and regularly attend related exhibitions in London and throughout the region.
