This course covers comprehensive study and research into accountancy practice and employability skills for the industry are developed.
What will I learn?
By completing the course, your vocational and employability skills will be well developed. In addition, you will complete a project / Digital Skills and attend Tutorial and Directed Study each week. You will be required to complete work experience in accounting.
If you are planning on going to University you will have the option to study for the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business. This carries additional UCAS points.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by external on line exams. All of the units within this qualification are mandatory. Four units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessments (units1,2,3,and 4). This qualification also includes a synoptic assessment that students sit towards the end of the qualification, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.( units1,2,3,4,5 and 6).
The results will be graded pass, merit and distinction. All results will be available immediately except for the synoptic results which will be available in six weeks.
Successful completion of AAT Level 2 Certificate in accounting, with at least a merit grade. Good knowledge of English and Math ( GCSEs Grade C/4 Standard), Good reference /Tutor recommendation.
Students enrolling from other colleges or those who have had a gap year/years in their studies would be expected to complete an entrance exam on Certificate of Accounting knowledge.
Progression & Career Opportunities
If you pass the course with an overall Merit or Distinction, and attend lessons regularly, you could progress to the Level 4 Professional Diploma in accounting (part time) subject to tutor recommendation. You would be expected to have at least 1 years' work experience working in an accountancy role. There will be opportunities within a number of sectors.
Skills developed through the qualification can lead to employment as an accounts assistant, an accounts payable and expenses supervisor, an accounts payable clerk, an assistant accountant, an audit trainee, a credit controller, a finance assistant, a finance officer, a payroll supervisor, a professional bookkeeper, a senior bookkeeper, a tax assistant.
You will be required to buy the course books (approximately £100 ). You would also be required to become a student member of the awarding body AAT.
You will be required to complete at least 8 hours of out of college studies each week in order to be successful.
