Saturday classes at the Amersham campus are a relaxing way to explore your creativity. We have great courses for people with different levels of experience, taught by our expert tutors who are specialists in their respected fields. Classes are structured and instructive, but enjoyable and energizing too. Numbers in the class are kept to a maximum of twelve so that the tutor has plenty of time to go around and speak to each student individually through each session, as well as teaching the group as a whole.
What will I learn?
The course is an opportunity for you to improve your observational drawing skills and consider how best you can translate what you see into drawing. A variety of exercises are designed to improve your visual recording abilities and develop confidence. You will be encouraged to work with fresh approaches and without preconceptions you will explore new ways of seeing and depicting the human figure. This course will use life models.
The course will consist of practical studio work interspersed with demonstrations and slide talks. Topics covered include; using of charcoal, pencils, soft pastels, oil pastels, inks and acrylics; applying colour will be introduced during the latter stages of the course; practicing with a number of different dry and wet media; experimenting with line, tone, texture, scale and composition.
Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate student, you will start, improve and develop your drawings whilst making them dynamic, powerful and spontaneous. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience who want to practice and develop their drawing skills. Students wishing to strengthen their portfolios for application to further studies will also benefit from the course.
