The beauty industry is a very exciting and dynamic sector of employment and offers a variety of career options. This programme will equip you with the skills required to become a Beauty Therapist.
What will I learn?
This is a practical based course and you will receive ongoing assessment on your practical skills. There will be theory which underpins the practical knowledge. In addition to your study programme, work experience within a salon is highly recommended and will lead to job opportunities.
- Improve and maintain facial skin condition
- Eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Anatomy and physiology
How will I be assessed?
You will carry out a range of practical assessments within a commercial salon environment with external paying clients. You will collate theoretical evidence in the form of assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, demonstrations and presentations.
At least 1 GCSE grade 4-9 ideally in maths or English and/or Level 1 Beauty Therapy.
Progression & Career Opportunities
Upon completion of this qualification you can progress onto Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, Level 3 Complementary Therapy or Level 3 Diploma in Make-Up Artistry. There are various part-time beauty courses which you can study. Many of our students find work within salons and spas with their level 2 qualification. This enables them to gain more industry relevant experience whilst studying a level 3 programme alongside. You may choose to become a self-employed Beauty Therapist.
Cost of Study
This course is fully funded for students who are 16-18 years of age. If you are 19 years of age or over then this course may be funded depending on your circumstances, please contact admissions for more details.
You will be required to purchase a beauty kit which will include everything you need to start your career in the Beauty industry. A uniform will be required so that you are presenting a professional image at all times and a course text book will be invaluable for home study. During your year of study the will also be opportunities to participate in workshops, trips and exhibitions. Please note we have a child-friendly timetable for 19+ students.
