IT is a constantly evolving sector with new jobs always coming available. Level 1 in IT User skills is a specialist work-related qualification which is designed to develop technical knowledge and personal skills that are essential for success in both IT related careers and any other jobs where use of IT skills is a requirement. The grounding in IT skills that this course provides would also to give an ideal stepping progress to Level 2 courses in either IT, Business or Creative Media where you could further develop the skills needed to eventually work in roles such as: IT technician or support analyst, hardware engineer, database administrator, games designer, internet/web professional to just name a few.

What will I learn?
Throughout the year you will be study a number of IT Units giving an introduction to both hardware and software.

How will I be assessed?
The level 1 Diploma in IT User Skills is a full time 1 year program and 100 % assessed by internal course work/development of student portfolio.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal requirements although students will be assessed on their suitability for the programme and advice will be given to ensure all students are on the correct pathway to suit their needs. A strong interest in a career in Computing is essential and you will have ideally studied Maths at GCSE level.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Students who complete the course may wish to continue their progression journey onto the next level in IT or may wish to complete a Level 2 in another subject area dependant on the entry requirements for that area. Many students go on to find careers in IT Administration, IT Hardware Engineering, Technical Support, Database Design, Web & Software Development, Computer Networking and IT Security.

Additional Information
In addition to your IT program, you will be enrolled onto Maths/or English if you not yet achieved a GCSE grade 4. You will also be required to undertake one weeks Work Experience which you will need to arrange yourselves.
