This two-year course is equivalent to 3 A Levels. This course has been developed to provide a solid grounding in Information Technology, for anyone who is interested in any kind of Computing career. Please note that when you apply for this course you will be applying for entry to the first year, which is known as a 90 Credit Diploma.
What will I learn?
This course covers practical skills, as well as the underpinning knowledge and understanding you will need to progress in the industry. The programme is jointly developed by IT specialists and IT educators, so it is both industry focused and up-to-date.

How will I be assessed?
All 18 units are assessed through coursework assignments and an overall grade is awarded for the whole qualification. Unit grades are Pass, Merit or Distinction. The full qualification grades range from PPP to DDD*.
A minimum of 5 GCSE passes including English and Maths. For 2017 entry we are accepting a grade C (current GCSE) or a grade 4 (New GCSE) as a pass. Alternatively we will accept a full Level 2 qualification at Merit grade or above, including English and Maths at grade C.
Progression & Career Opportunities
The course offers an established route into Higher Education and is a good second stage for those seeking a career in technical or customer support, computer systems sales and marketing, all levels of programming, systems analysis/design and software development. This course leads to careers in Programming as a Software Engineer or Database Administrator, a Website Designer, a Network Specialist or a Software/Hardware Technician.
A £50 fee will be payable on enrolment for a programme of trips that will be arranged throughout the academic year.
