This site carpentry course is for you if you are preparing to work in the industry or already employed and need a recognised industry qualification. This course will help you to develop your existing skills and knowledge and introduce you to more advanced techniques.
What will I learn?
This course will help to develop the skills employers in industry are looking for such as technical and practical skills, problem solving, numeracy, literacy, team working and communication.
- Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work
- Constructing cut roofing
- Fitting doors, windows and their finishings
- Fixing stairs with turns
- Principles of maintenance and repair
- Set up and use fixed and transportable machinery
How will I be assessed?
Progress and achievement is recorded throughout the year via practical assessments, theory assessments, external tests and a practical synoptic assignment.
3 GCSEs at 4 (C) or above one of which must be English or Maths, and a full Level 1 qualification at a merit grade or above. Entry is also subject to an interview.
Progression & Career Opportunities
Upon successful completion, you may proceed onto the Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry. You will be able to find full employment in the Carpentry and Joinery Industry as, for example, a site carpenter.
A course contribution fee of £50.00 will apply. You will also be required to supply your own safety boots and overalls.
