This course is an introductory, knowledgebased teaching practice qualification and may be taken by individuals who are not in a teaching role, as there is no minimum teaching practice. It is suitable for those who want a short qualification and interested in education and teacher training.

  • What will I learn?

    How to apply knowledge and understanding of the sector to recognise own professional roles, responsibilities and boundaries in relation to learning and teaching. Plan an inclusive learning and teaching session which meets the needs of individual learners, and engages and motivates all learners. Understand and plan assessment strategies and recognise the value of assessment information to the learner and the organisation. Reflect and evaluate on own teaching, supported by feedback from peers and others.

  • Example modules

    This is a stand alone module - The Award in Education and Training.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment consists of three elements a 2000 word reflection, a 15 minute micro teach and a short evaluation of the micro teach.

  • Entry Requirements

    Level 3 qualifications in your subject specialist area. Level 2 qualifications in core skills of English, mathematics and IT.

  • Progression & Career Opportunities

    Successful completion enables progression onto the Certificate in Education and Training. Provides a stepping stone onto Teaching in Further and Adult Education or in the Life Long Learning Sector.

  • Additional Information

    Part-time attendance on the course is Tuesday afternoon 1.15 until 5.15pm. It is expected that students are present and punctual to all sessions and engage in all activities to demonstrate professional development and commitment to the course. Additional courses will be running later in the year.
