The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are designed for people whose first language is not English and want to improve their spoken and written language skills.

  • What will I learn?

At Level 1, you will build on your existing knowledge of Grammar and Vocabulary. We will focus on cooperative discussions with peers, as well as clarity in both speaking and writing. There is a focus on grammar, particularly complex structures such as conditional sentences and embedded questions.

  • How will I be assessed?

There are three exams in the year; Speaking and Listening in December, Writing in April, and Reading in June. You will do the exams in the college.

  • Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements; however, you will need to do a placement test so that we can assess your level.

  • Progression & Career Opportunities

Students who study Level 1 can expect to progress to Level 2 the following year.

  • Cost of Study

    £200 for 10 weeks (£600 for 30 weeks)

  • Additional Information

There will be an additional cost for books - £20-£30, along with a parking charge for drivers (£45).
