Buckinghamshire College Group is committed to helping learners who face financial barriers to taking part in education.
Depending on their individual circumstances, students may be able to get help with travel, essential course equipment, meals, childcare and other study-related costs through our College Support Scheme (CSS).
Course Fees
Students aged 16–18
Students aged 16–18 on 31 August before their course starts, their tuition fees are fully funded, so they won't need to pay course fees.
Adult Learners (19+)
Students aged 19 or over may be eligible for funded study depending on the course and personal circumstances.
Students may qualify if they:
- are unemployed
- are on a low income
- are studying up to a Level 2 qualification and do not already hold a full Level 2 qualification
For courses at Level 3 and above, students may be eligible for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan.

College Support Scheme (CSS)
The College Support Scheme provides financial assistance to eligible students who need extra support to access and succeed in education.
Support is available through a number of funding schemes, including:
- 16–18 Bursary Fund
- Vulnerable Learner Bursary
- Discretionary Financial Support
- Childcare Support
- Limited support for eligible learners aged 19+
Please note that funding is limited. All awards are subject to eligibility, available funding and assessment of financial need. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee an award.
What Can the Funding Help With?
Depending on a students circumstances, support may be available for:
- Travel costs
- Essential course materials, equipment, uniforms and books
- DBS checks
- Mandatory educational trips
- Lunch or meal support
- Childcare costs (where eligible)
The type and amount of support varies depending on your individual circumstances and the funding available.
Who Can Apply?
Students enrolled at Buckinghamshire College Group who require financial support to help them stay in education may be eligible.
This may include:
- Students aged 16–18
- Vulnerable learners
- Students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Eligible learners aged 19+
- Students experiencing financial hardship
Applications are means-tested where applicable, so students may be asked to provide evidence such as household income, benefits or other relevant documentation. Attendance is also considered, and confirmed attendance is required before any award can be processed for payment.
How to Apply
Applications are completed online through the College Support Scheme Portal.

- Register for an account (new students only)
- Upload any supporting evidence requested (e.g. proof of household income, benefits or residency)
Applications can take up to five weeks to process once we've received a completed application and all supporting evidence.
Application Deadline
The main application window opens at enrolment and closes on Monday 5 October 2026 at 12pm.
Applying early gives us enough time to assess your application, confirm your attendance and arrange any payments before the end of the autumn term.
Late applications may still be considered where there has been a change in circumstances or where funding remains available.
