A fantastic starting platform for students with a interest in designing fashion, accessories and different looks! This course permits students with little or no experience in the designing concept to explore a range of ideas and learn great techniques.
Leads to additional Level 2 courses in creative industries such as fashion styling and textiles, art & design or photography. There may be the opportunity to progress onto a level 1 Hair & Media Makeup course if this is appropriate on completion.
What will I learn?
Projects could include making and designing accessories for films, theatre, TV or events, everyday wear, a spot of t-shirt printing, designing your own prints on textiles, styling your own personalised look and learning to illustrate your own work! You may use the screen print studio, photography studio, ceramics bay and a whole host of other creative facilities
- Design and produce a Personalised Style Range
- Screen Printing
- Portfolio Building
- Preparing for Progression
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical assessments, self evaluation and end products. We use a variety of assessment methods to meet the need of the student which may include video presentation, observation, Q&A or sketchbook work.
There are no formal requirements although students will be assessed on their suitability for the programme and advice will be given to ensure all students are on the correct pathway to suit their needs. A small booklet showing students interests is always welcome. A set project may be given before a decision is made on offering a place to ensure students have the best possible opportunity to meet their aims and goals.
Progression & Career Opportunities
Students who complete the course may wish to continue their progression journey onto the next level in Art & Design or may wish to complete a Level 2 in another subject area dependant on the entry requirements for that area. Many students go on to find careers in Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design, Fashion, Illustration, Marketing, Photo Journalism, Interior Design, Textiles, Product and Packaging Design, Medical Imaging, Charities or even MI5!
Students will be required to purchase a range of art materials throughout the course ie. Sketchbook, pencils, paints and artwork case. A list of recommended materials will be made available during enrolment or induction.
