This qualification has been designed to prepare you for employment as a Junior Hairdresser/Stylist. You will be trained in basic hair techniques and work on external clients to gain real life hairdressing experience which is a great opportunity to build confidence and skills. Students who are 16-18 years of age will be required to study maths and English as part of this study programme.

What will I learn?
This is a practical based course and you will develop valuable skills of communication and confidence with clients. In addition you will receive ongoing assessment on your practical skills. There will be theory which underpins the practical knowledge. In addition to your study programme, work experience within a salon is highly recommended and will lead to job opportunities.

How will I be assessed?
You will carry out a range of practical assessments within a commercial salon environment. You will collate theoretical evidence in the form of assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, demonstrations and presentations.

Entry Requirements
GCSE grade 3 (D) or above in English and/or Maths and a general interest in the Hair and Beauty sector. Potential students will be required to attend an interview and complete a skills test prior to enrolment.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Upon completion of this course you can progress on to the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or a Level 2 Diploma in Barbering.
Many of our students find employment after completion of this course in various roles within a salon such as receptionist or Hairdressing assistant. -
Additional Information
You will be required to purchase a hair kit which will include everything you need to start your career in hairdressing. A uniform will be required so that you are presenting a professional image at all times and a course text book will be invaluable for home study. During your year of study there will also be opportunities to participate in workshops, trips and exhibitions.
