This is a BTEC course which will introduce you to the work of the legal services. It can also help to build up your confidence before moving on to a Level 3.
What will I learn?
You will learn through classroom based activities working in groups. You will also be expected to study independently at home each week.
This course is a full-time study programme and has been formulated to prepare you for the future. This means as well as studying your chosen course, you'll also work on important skills to help to equip you for your future career. Your study programme will include: Your chosen course, English & Maths GCSE if you do not have a Grade 4 (C) and/or subject related IT sessions (Digital Skills), You will also have personal development sessions (Tutorials) and independent study sessions (Directed Study).

- Criminal Law and procedure
- Aspects of Consumer Protection Law and Practice
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through assignments .These may require written reports or Powerpoint presentations.
To join this course, you will need three GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English
You should be able to demonstrate an interest in the subject. Entry is also subject to an interview, basic skills screening and initial assessment.
Progression & Career Opportunities
If you complete this course with a Merit grade, you could look at progressing to the Level 3 BTEC in Applied Law, Business and Applied Psychology. Further study in this subject can lead to careers such as: Solicitor, Barrister, Barristers' clerk, Chartered legal executive, Para-legal, Licensed conveyancer or Legal secretary
