If you are considering a career in dance, either as a performer, choreographer or teacher, then this is the ideal course for you. Building upon your previous experience of dance as a member of a youth company, as a competitor, or as someone who has taken graded dance examinations, this course trains you in ballet, jazz, contemporary, urban, tap, choreography and improvisation.
What will I learn?
You need energy, focus, commitment and enthusiasm for dancing and in return you will develop your technique in a range of styles with a faculty of teachers, all of whom have professional experience in the industry. You will do practical dance studies in ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, urban, choreography and dance improvisation. You will also learn more about the history and social context of dance, study anatomy and body conditioning, choreograph your own pieces and perform in dance productions. You will also undertake a singing unit and study musical theatre dance.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is both practical and theoretical. Written and/or oral evaluations accompany most practical assessments (demos, showcases, theatrical productions) and presentation work is also included.
4 GCSEs 4 (C) or above, including English & Maths, or a Level 2 Diploma qualification at merit or above. Previous dance experience is required and an audition.
Progression & Career Opportunities
Higher Education or employment. The course is aimed towards equipping students for higher education or employment in the industry. For HE the course is equivalent to 3 A levels and its highly practical nature means that students will have advanced skills suitable for specialist dance institutions or industry work.
Enrichment programmes include opportunities to visit the Wycombe Swan and other venues to see dance productions and taking part in various dance events within the community. Students also participate in masterclasses with working professionals from the industry, including commercial dancers/choreographers, dancers performing in the West End and individuals working internationally.
