This course is aimed at students who have a career goal in the performing arts but who are not yet ready for Level 3. The course covers a range of skills to enable students to experience all sides of the industry, focusing on acting, dance, musical theatre and production skills to prepare them for our Level 3 courses or industry work

  • What will I learn?

    In addition to contemporary theatre/acting and selected dance modules, the course also includes an Employability Skills module, carefully crafted for you to learn the professional presentation-techniques and develop the confidence and skill-set required to achieve successful outcomes for interviews, professional presentations and auditions. The course also includes professionally instructed student performances to a selected and invited audience.

    You will gain skills in a range of on-stage and back-stage roles. In additional to the performing-arts genres mentioned above, - you will explore technical roles such as lighting and set-design, as well as introductory business skills required to run box office and promotion.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed in a number of ways; as well as producing practical performance work, you will produce research projects, short essays, oral/visual presentations etc.

  • Entry Requirements

    Ideally you should have 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or above. You will also attend an interview and an audition where you will be expected to discuss your interest in Performing Arts and demonstrate your ability.

  • Additional Information

    You will need rehearsal blacks - comfortable clothing. Students may also wear jazz shoes or jazz sneakers shoes for dance and acting classes, but it's not a specific requirement. Trips, theatre visits and workshops - fares and tickets will be required.
