Psychology is the scientific study of minds and behaviours. The study of human behaviour is fundamental to many jobs and is one of the most interesting topics that can be studied within both further and higher education. This course will give you an introduction to the subject area and allow you to conduct a small scale research project, equipping you with the necessary skills to take study in this area to the next level.
This course is the equivalent to 0.5 of an A-Level and successful completion will lead you directly onto the Exended Certificate in Applied Psychology. The course will be delivered one day a week on campus but you will be expected to do reading and research outside the classroom on the topics that are being studied.
What will I learn?
Throughout this course you will learn the various psychological approaches and how they can be applied to human behaviour. You will also learn the skills and techniques needed to conduct research in the field.

How will I be assessed?
This certificate is assessed by both exteral examination and internal coursework, graded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction
GCSE in English and Maths (minimum 4). All applicants will be interviewed by the course lead to ensure that the course is the right choice based on previous educational work experience
Progression & Career Opportunities
Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded a Level 3 National Certificate in Applied Psychology. This qualification is worth the equivalent of 0.5 A-Level and will enable you to study the Level 3 National Advanced Certificate in Applied Psychology. This will give you the remaining credits, equivalent to 1 A-Level. On successful completion of this course, students can progress onto the Advanced Certificate in Applied Psychology.
