This course is part of the government-backed Lifetime Skills Guarantee scheme, which enables you to retrain, upskill or make a career change thanks to the £95 million National Skills Fund.
The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and has been developed to provide an introduction to Public Services and for anyone who is interested in any kind of Public Service career.
What will I learn?
The Certificate in Public Services is 30 credit course that is designed as an introduction to a career in the public services armed forces, police, fire, ambulance, coast guard etc.
Students who study the Certificate may wish to progress to a larger Level 3 qualification in Public Services, such as a Diploma.
Some aspects of the programme will be delivered through online learning and there will be a requirement to study independently.

How will I be assessed?
The assessment is ongoing through written assignments, mock court case studies, practical assessment and skills assessments.
The formal entry requirements are: a minimum of 4 GCSE passes including English and Maths. We are accepting a grade 4 (C). Alternatively we will accept a full Level 2 qualification at Merit grade or above including GCSE English and maths.
Life and work experience will be taken into consideration for students who do not meet these requirements. Students must be over19 and must NOT have previously attained a level 3 qualification.

Provides entry requirements for university. Students are given career advice throughout the course and most progress directly into employment within a uniformed service.
