Would you like to work in the fitness industry? Then this qualification aims to provide learners with the broad base of knowledge and skills they need to work in a variety of customer-facing roles within the active leisure industry, including fitness instructing, personal training and exercise class instructor. Potential students would require a keen interest in the gym, and would be expected to be using the gym on a regular basis.

This two-year course is split into two one year qualifications. In the first year you will complete the fitness instructor (level 2) qualification followed by the personal training (level 3) qualification in year two. There will be opportunities to add extra qualifications along the way. UCAS points will be achieved in the second year of study.

    You will gain a broad base of knowledge, enabling you to plan and deliver, fitness training sessions and programmes to all ages and with consideration to disability and diversity.

    • Unit 22 Instructing a suspended movement session

  • How will I be assessed?

    Coursework, Portfolio of Evidence, Practical Demonstration/Assignment and Externally set, externally marked multiple-choice theory exams also make up 30% of this qualification.

  • Entry Requirements

    3 GCSEs to include a minimum of Maths 3 and English 3. Science and PE 3s would be an advantage for this course. Alternatively, we will accept a full Level 2 Sport qualification at Merit grade or above. A keen interest in exercise and using the gym regularly is a must.

    You will be required to purchase the following Uniform at a cost of approximately £110. During the course there will be the opportunity to attend events and additional coaching courses at an approximate cost of £50.
