The Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNCs in Sport and in Sport and Exercise Sciences provide a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the Sport, Leisure and Recreation sector and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the content of specialist units.

BTEC Level 4 HNCs provide a nationally recognised qualification offering career progression and professional development for those already in employment and opportunities to progress into higher education.

  • What will I learn?

    You will be expected to participate fully in all class activities and undertake a considerable amount of independent study. You will also be introduced to many aspects of the sporting industry that you may not have previously considered. Our accrediting body (Pearson) have developed the qualification in close collaboration with experts from professional bodies and universities, one of whom is our affiliate organisation Chelsea FC.

  • How will I be assessed?

    The HNC is assessed on a both a theoretical and practical basis. Assessments that consider cognitive skills (what students know) along with affective and applied skills (respectively how they behave and what they can do). Each form of assessment is graded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction.

  • Entry Requirements

    A normal pathway is entry via BTEC National Diploma or A-Levels, however- each application is indivudally considered.

  • Progression & Career Opportunities

    Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded an HNC Sport (Community Sport and Physical Activity), accredited by Pearson. The Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNCs in Sport and in Sport and Exercise Sciences offer many progression routes into Further study, and indeed enhance employment prospects in the sports industry. On successful completion of the course, students can progress into careers within the Sports Coaching or Sports Development realm.

  • Cost of Study

    £6350. Funding support is available for through the 19+ Advanced Learner Loan.

    The course will definitely include practical elements, and is a stimulating and challenging programme of study that will be both engaging and memorable for students. It will provide the essential subject knowledge that students need to progress successfully into further study or the world of work.
