At Buckinghamshire College Group we work closely with employers for the benefit of our students, businesses and the local community.
We are the largest provider of apprenticeship training in the area and also provide bespoke training solutions for local employers to help upskill your workforce and increase productivity. We see our partnerships with employers as a two-way relationship, and many local businesses contribute a huge amount to our students in terms of offering work placements or providing live briefs or talks and demonstrations.
You can find more details on our services for employers below and also further information on how you could work with us to support our work in preparing young people for their careers.
Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, which lead to national recognised qualifications. You can use apprenticeships to train both new and existing employees – you pay the apprentice’s wages, the government funds the training.
Buckinghamshire College Group is the largest provider of apprenticeship training across Buckinghamshire. Our high quality team will provide great support for you and your apprentices, delivering training and assessment that lead to successful outcomes.
How will the Apprenticeship Levy affect your Business?
The government has set a target of recruiting 3 million Apprentices by the year 2020, and to support this they have introduced the Apprenticeship Levy, due to start in April 2017. Not all employers will be affected, but those that are will have to pay the levy at a rate of 0.5% of their payroll.
The Levy will fund the recruitment of enthusiastic young people into the UK workforce, as well as support the skills development of your existing employees. We can help you minimise the risk and maximise the benefits of this Levy.
Traineeships are a new Government programme designed to prepare young people for their future careers by helping them to become work ready.
With 74% of employers citing experience as a critical or significant factor when recruiting, but only 38% of young people feeling ready for the workplace, the need to prepare young people for work is very clear. Traineeships will provide this essential knowledge and experience, making young people more employable and ensuring businesses develop the skilled workforces they need.
