The T Level in Digital Support and Security is an innovative two-year, Level 3 study programme designed for students who have completed their GCSEs and Technical Awards at Key Stage 4. They offer a compelling alternative to A Levels and Apprenticeships, specifically for those interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.
This programme combines classroom theory, practical learning, and a minimum of 315 hours of industry placement with an employer, ensuring students gain valuable real-world experience in the digital support and security sector.
The Technical Qualification (TQ) is the core classroom-based component of the T Level, where students will engage with a curriculum crafted by industry experts. This curriculum covers essential topics such as network security, threat detection, and incident response.
Throughout the two-year programme, students will acquire foundational knowledge that supports the digital security industry and develop specialised skills necessary for entering skilled employment in cybersecurity roles. This includes learning various security protocols, understanding the principles of ethical hacking, and mastering techniques to protect systems and data from cyber threats.

What will I learn?
Throughout the T Level Digital Support and Security programme, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of digital support and cybersecurity. You will develop critical thinking and analytical skills to solve complex digital security challenges, and learn the fundamentals of digital support, including troubleshooting and user assistance.
You'll manage, analyse and utilise data effectively to enhance security measures, understand the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the digital industry, and gain insights into how cybersecurity fits within organisational goals and strategies. Additionally, you'll stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in technology, explore various digital platforms and environments, and acquire knowledge of cybersecurity principles to protect systems and data from threats.

How will I be assessed?
Assessments for T Levels are as follows:
Year 1:
- 2x Core Examinations
- 1x Employer Set Project - synoptic assessment
Year 2:
- 1x Occupations Specialism - synoptic assessment
Industry Placement - 315 hours

Entry Requirements
To join this programme you will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Students can either go into industry, into an apprenticeship or onto university. This course supports progression to entry-level job opportunities in network infrastructure.
Job roles could include: Network Infrastructure Technician, IT solutions technician, hardware solutions and network cable installer and many more in the industry.
