If a young person has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and is considering Buckinghamshire College Group as their next educational setting, it is important that the Local Authority (LA) is informed.
This can be done in one of two ways:
- Through their transition annual review at their current school or college
- By contacting the Local Authority’s SEND team directly
Once notified, the LA will begin a consultation process with Buckinghamshire College Group to determine whether the College can meet the needs and provision outlined in the EHCP. This consultation runs alongside the standard application to the College.
All students, including those with an EHCP, must also complete the standard Buckinghamshire College Group application process.
Any conditional offer made to a student with an EHCP will depend on the outcome of the formal consultation. The Local Authority must confirm that Buckinghamshire College Group can meet the student’s needs and provision, and approve the required funding before a place can be confirmed.
