Creative Media Production, TV & Film

"Take advantage of the time you have and the equipment you're granted access to as well as the teachers knowledge. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and certainly don't be discouraged if your first film, or even several films don't turn out the way you envisioned. It's all part of the process and your development."
- Why did you choose to study at Buckinghamshire College Group?
The practicality of the course and the campuses studio space/ equipment drew me to the course straight away. When I got to speak to the tutors and was able to see their passion for the subject and teaching, my choice was cemented.
- Why did you choose this course and what were your ambitions at the time?
I chose this course to pursue my passion of film and learn the principles that lie at the bedrock of all film & TV production. As well as to practically learn what I enjoyed the most, whether it be cinematography, directing, editing and so on.
- What did you enjoy the most about your course and your time at the College?
My favorite experience of the course was making my grad film, "Somnium". Working with my classmates and using all of the knowledge we had built up over the last two years studying. This was rewarded when we handed the film in and it was selected by the UAL to take part of their "Origins Creative" exhibition in Mall Galleries.
- What experiences and skills from your course have been most valuable in your journey so far?
One of the most valuable experiences from my course was my work placement at Digital Orchard. It gave me access to Pinewood studios for the first time ever and I learned about the post production process as well as Kodak and celluloid film. Since then, I have Directed adverts shot on 16mm and am currently in pre-production for my next short film which will also be shot on 16mm.
- How did your time at the college help prepare you for where you are today?
My time at College gave me a rich understanding of film history and grammar that I take forwards when prepping any project or talking with fellow creatives. I still stay in touch with my tutors, asking for advice and sharing my work with them to hear their feedback which is incredibly helpful.
