Splitting your time between the Buckinghamshire College Group Amersham Campus and Creative Media Skills state of the art studio base in the heart of British Film, Pinewood Studios, you will meet and learn from some of the most recognised and actively working professionals across many areas, including: Makeup and Hair designers, mould makers, sculptors, costume designers, breakdown artists, costume cutters and more!

    Applicants need to 18 years old or over and have achieved a Level 3 qualification at either Merit or BBB in a related discipline. It is desirable for students to have attained GCSE English and/or Maths at a 4 or above as well. Applications from candidates with good levels of literacy and numeracy will be considered for mature candidates.

    A professional interview will be required.

  • What will I learn?

    You will develop a diverse portfolio of skill in Makeup, Hair, Prosthetic Makeup and Costume and will be presented with opportunities to develop and utilise broad, transferable skills through an ethos of personal and professional development. Specifically, the programme allows students to demonstrate: Initiative, Independent inquiry, Team-working, Self-management, Effective participation, Creative thinking, Reflective learning, Problem solving, Communication, Numeracy.

  • Additional Information
    This course is run in conjunction with our partners CMS Institute at Pinewood Studios, the course will be split between Pinewood and our Amersham Campus. If you are under 19 on the date of enrolment this course is funded. There is an additional Course Contribution Fee of £350, this can be paid through the Online Store. If you are over 19 on the date of enrolment the course Fee is £5,700, in addition there is a Course Contribution Fee of £350, this can be paid through the Online Store. You will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan for you course fee through the government's Student Finance website for a maximum of £5,421 the remaining £279 course fee can be paid in four instalments through our Enrolment Payment Pathway link.
  • Progression

    Students who complete the course may wish to continue their progression journey onto the BA qualification or enter the world of work.

  • How am I assessed?

    The course consists of 3 units and is 100% coursework which is assessed by tutors at regular intervals.

    Units 1 and 2 are internally assessed and internally verified against the learning outcomes for those units.

    Unit 3 is internally assessed, internally verified and externally moderated against the learning outcomes for that unit.
