As the UK continues to focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving the energy performance of homes, energy efficiency has become a key priority within the domestic heating industry. Heating engineers are expected to understand the latest regulations, installation standards and best practices that support more efficient heating systems.
This Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating course at the Bucks Green Energy Skills Hub is designed for experienced heating installers who need to meet Part L Building Regulations requirements and self-certify work through a Competent Persons Scheme (CPS).
Whether you’re working with gas, oil or solid fuel systems, this course provides the essential knowledge needed to remain compliant, improve installation standards and support customers in reducing energy consumption.
- Course Overview
Energy-efficient heating systems are now a core requirement within domestic installation and maintenance work.
This one-day course covers the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations and the Technical Competency Requirements for Domestic Heating and Hot Water Systems for Energy Efficiency. The programme is aligned to National Occupational Standards (NOS) and mapped by SummitSkills.
Learners will develop the knowledge required to install, commission, service and maintain domestic heating systems in line with current energy efficiency legislation and industry standards.

Applicants should be experienced installers of domestic central heating systems, including:

You will be assessed through a multiple choice paper exam.

NICEIC Certificate of Competence will be issued to successful learners and is valid for five years.
