Hands-On Healthcare Training
HealthTec is our specialist health simulation centre at Buckinghamshire College Group’s Aylesbury Campus, developed in partnership with NHS Health Education England.
Our Health courses are designed for anyone looking to train, upskill, or explore a rewarding career in health and social care. Learn in our state-of-the-art health ward and immersive simulation spaces, where you can practise real procedures such as catheterisation, manual handling and basic first aid in realistic settings before applying them in the workplace.
You’ll be guided by expert tutors and healthcare professionals, gaining confidence, refining your skills, and learning to meet industry standards. Whether you’re updating your knowledge or stepping into healthcare for the first time, our hands-on approach helps you build the practical experience employers value.
HealthTec also offers interactive learning experiences for schools, colleges and community groups — bringing healthcare to life through engaging, scenario-based sessions. These sessions can take place at our Aylesbury campus or on location across Thames Valley and Oxfordshire using our mobile facilities.

- Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This programme meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive for first aiders working in low-risk environments (e.g. offices, shops, residential care settings).

First Aid at Work (FAW) Qualification (Blended Learning)
The qualification will equip the first aider with skills to be able to confidently undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured at work and provide effective care for a wide range of common workplace injuries and illnesses. First Aid at Work training consists of 18 hours of instructor-led tuition, delivered over a minimum of 3 days, with emphasis throughout on practical application of first aid skills. We also offer First Aid at Work Requalification (2 Day).

Basic Life Saving & AED
HealthTec’s Basic Life Saving programme has been designed to give members of the community the skills to assist in a life-threatening situation. The course covers rescuer safety, cardiac compression, rescue breaths, community AED and choking.
No previous first aid experience is required. Delegates must be over 14 years old.

Paediatric First Aid (blended)
Our Paediatric First Aid course equips you with essential skills to handle medical emergencies involving children. You'll learn how to provide first aid for common injuries like cuts and bruises, perform CPR on infants and children, respond to choking, breathing difficulties and allergic reactions, manage seizures and other medical emergiencies and prevent accidents to ensure children's safety.

Our Anaphylaxis Awareness course provides essential knowledge on understanding anaphylaxis, recognising symptoms and identifying triggers. You'll learn how to adminsiter effective treatment using an auto-injector, understand storage guidelines and contribute to sisk assessments to ensure safety.

Anaphylaxis and Asthma Combined
Our combined Asthma Awareness and Anaphylaxis Awareness course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to manage both asthma and anaphylaxis emergencies.
In the Asthma Awareness section, you’ll learn about the causes, symptoms, and treatments of asthma, how to recognize the signs of an asthma attack, and how to effectively respond to provide relief. The course also covers the different types of inhalers and their specific uses.

Manual Handling
In 2014/15 9.5 million working days were lost due to work-related musculoskeletal disorders! Manual handling is the most common cause of lost-time injuries in the workplace. This Level 2 qualification raises awareness of the risks and the controls available.
