Skills Bootcamps

Renewable Heating and Hot Water Bootcamp

Starting January 2026
Fully Funded (subejct to elegibility)

Designed for heating and plumbing professionals, this intensive Bootcamp builds your skills in renewable systems, compliance and efficiency. On completion, you’ll be qualified across multiple disciplines — boosting your pathway to the MCS Installer Scheme and Competent Persons Schemes.

Successful Candidates Will:

  • Gain competence in installing and maintaining ASHP and Solar Thermal systems
  • Understand system design principles for renewable heating technologies
  • Demonstrate compliance with Water Regulations and Energy Efficiency standards
  • Be qualified to install, commission, and service Unvented Hot Water Systems
  • Be eligible to apply for MCS Installer Scheme membership and Competent Persons Schemes

Entry Requirements:

Learners must hold one of the following:

  • N/SVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Plumbing, Heating & Ventilation, Oil Fired Technical Services or Gas Installation & Maintenance
  • Or at least 2 years of experience installing wet central heating systems (evidenced by manufacturer course certification or registration with Gas Safe, OFTEC, MCS, or HETAS.)

Certification

NICEIC will issue a Certificate of Competence for each module to learners who meet all assessment requirements. The certificate is valid for five years and are issued upon successful completion of assessments (theory and practical, depending on module). Reassessment is available for most modules upon expiry.

Electrical Installation of Renewable Technologies Bootcamp

Starting January 2026

Designed for practising electricians, this intensive Bootcamp builds your skills in modern electrical installation standards, renewable energy systems and EV infrastructure.

What's Included:

  • Electrical Energy Storage Systems (BPEC EESS)

  • EV Charging Equipment Installation (ETCAL Level 3 Award)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382)

  1. BPEC Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS)
    a. Battery storage design, installation and verification
    b. IET Code of Practice and MCS MIS 3012 standards

  2. BPEC Solar Photovoltaic Systems (PV)
    a. PV system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance
    b. Integration with battery storage systems

  3. ETCAL Level 3 Award – EV Charging Equipment Installation
    a. Residential, commercial and industrial EV charging installations
    b. Testing, commissioning and compliance with statutory regulations

  4. City & Guilds 2382 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition)
    a. BS 7671:2018 (Amendment 2, 2022) compliance
    b. Safe installation, inspection and testing procedures

Successful Candidates Will:

  • Gain competence in battery storage system installation
  • Be able to design, install and maintain solar PV systems
  • Deliver safe and compliant EV charging installations
  • Enhance employability in renewable energy and low‑carbon technologies
  • Be eligible for MCS Installer Scheme membership
  • Understand and apply the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

Entry Requirements:

Learners must be qualified electricians and hold:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Systems (2357, 5357 or 2346)
  • OR equivalent qualifications recognised by EAS tables A4.7 and 4.8
  • OR Current ECS Gold Card or JIB Electrician/Approved Electrician Card

Certification

Each module leads to a recognised Certificate of Competence (City & Guilds, BPEC, ETCAL). Certificates are valid for five years (except 18th Edition) and are issued upon successful completion of theory and practical assessments.
