Students from Buckinghamshire College Group recently attended Buckinghamshire New University's Health and Society Day, where they took part in a range of interactive workshops and information sessions designed to showcase the diverse opportunities available within the healthcare sector.
Throughout the day, students explored a wide variety of healthcare disciplines, including Midwifery, Paramedic Science, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Operating Department Practice, Social Work, Public Health, Diagnostic Radiography and Psychology. Hands-on taster sessions gave students the opportunity to engage with different aspects of each profession, while learning more about the skills, knowledge and personal qualities required to succeed in these rewarding careers.
The event provided valuable insight into progression routes into higher education, future career opportunities and what student life at university could look like. By engaging directly with academic staff and current students, attendees were able to ask questions, explore their interests and gain a better understanding of the pathways available to them after college.
Experiences such as Health and Society Day play an important role in helping students make informed decisions about their future. Exposure to higher education environments and career-focused activities helps students build confidence, broaden their horizons and develop a clearer understanding of the opportunities available within the healthcare sector.
We'd like to thank the team at Buckinghamshire New University for hosting such an engaging and inspiring event. Their expertise, enthusiasm and support helped students gain a deeper understanding of the many routes into healthcare and encouraged them to think positively about their next steps in education and employment.
