As part of their Level 3 Uniformed Public Services course, students are required to complete a unit called Emergency Planning and Collaborating with the Emergency Services.
Buckinghamshire College Group chose to take this experience to the next level by inviting serving members of the Fire, Paramedic and Police services to stage a full ‘mock’ Major Incident Exercise. The Exercise is designed to take students away from the comfort of their classroom and put them in a situation that they may encounter in a future career.
The day was broken down into two parts. The morning saw the Major Incident being performed by the Emergency Services while student watch on. The second half of the day saw Uniformed Public Services students take over and act accordingly.
The aim of the exercise was to give students the opportunity to face a realistic emergency situation, while utilising the knowledge of the blue light services.
Buckinghamshire College Group would like to thank all the serving members of the Fire, Paramedic and Police services that attended the exercise and a huge congratulations to the students for successfully completing it. A special thank you also goes to ASM Auto Recycling for loaning the College a number of cars to use within the excercise and the Special Effects students for creating the realistic wounds on the 'injured' actors.
