This exciting two-year T Level course, starting in September 2025, has been carefully developed with employers and industry experts to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for a career in construction, surveying, and civil engineering. Designed in collaboration with Buckinghamshire Highways, this course will prepare you for a range of roles in the ever-evolving world of construction.

    To enrol, you will need four GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths (or equivalent).

  • Example Modules
    • All students will develop a general understanding of construction, including:
      • health and safety
      • the science behind building design, surveying and planning
      • making accurate and appropriate measurements
      • construction methods
      • building regulations and standards
      • data management and information standards in construction
      • relationship management and customer service
      • how the Internet of Things (IoT) impacts construction
      • digital engineering techniques
      • mathematical techniques to solve construction problems
      • construction design principles and processes
      • the construction industry and its role in the economy
      • sustainability and the environmental impact of construction
      • business, commerce and corporate social responsibility They will also learn about topics specific to design, surveying and planning, including:
      • project management
      • budgeting and resource allocation
      • procurement
      • risk management In addition to the core content, each student will follow the Civil Engineering specialism with the following Modules:
      • Analyse Civil Engineering Solutions
      • Design Civil Engineering Solutions
      • Verify Delivery of Civil Engineering Solutions
  • What will I learn?

    During this T Level, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of core construction principles, as well as hands-on experience in civil engineering.

    This course includes a 9-week (45 days) industrial placement, giving you valuable experience working alongside professionals in the construction industry. You'll develop the skills and confidence to hit the ground running in your future career.

  • Progression

    Upon completing this T Level, you’ll have several progression routes, including:

    Apprenticeships: Start working while continuing to develop your skills.

    University: Study civil engineering or construction-related degrees.

    Employment: Enter the workforce as a civil engineering technician, building control officer, geospatial technician, or technical surveyor.

  • How am I assessed?

    You’ll be assessed through two exams, an employer-set project, an industrial placement, and an occupational specialism project. This ensures you develop the academic knowledge, practical skills, and real-world experience needed to succeed.
