Businesses throughout Buckinghamshire are being offered £1,000 to support a young person gain essential experience whilst studying the new T Level Qualifications. Equivalent to three A Levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and to help students develop excellent technical skills and become more employable. T Level students spend 80% of their course in the classroom with the other 20% spent in a 45 day industry placement with a local employer.
Buckinghamshire College Group is reaching out to local businesses to ask them to support students by offering industry placements from September this year. The new T Level qualifications will be offered to students aged 16-19 years who are looking to pursue a career in Digital Design, Early Years Education, Mental Health and Social Care and Laboratory Science plus many more.
Richard Kirkham, Executive Director of Curriculum Design and Planning said,
“We are very excited to be delivering our new T Level qualifications and the demand for these new courses is sky high. Each student enrolled on a T Level course must undertake work experience in an organisation that will help to develop their technical and workplace skills. The College is at the heart of the Buckinghamshire community and we want to strengthen our links with the local business community as we work closely together to prepare the future workforce. A significant number of local businesses have already pledged their support to provide industry placements, but as the demand for these courses has been unprecedented we need more business to come on board. The £1,000 incentive is open to all sized employers, with the exception of government departments and arm’s length bodies. There are no restrictions on what the funds can pay for, employers may choose. Any business that has an IT specialism, provides health or care services or operates a science facility will be welcomed with open arms! “
