  • What will I learn?

    The Art & Design Pathway consists of a series of projects that explore a variety of traditional and digital contemporary art skills. Emphasis is placed on research, development of strong ideas in sketchbooks and the use of the Art & Design facilities to support producing sophisticated and progressive explorative visual outcomes in the form of final artworks. A regular programme of trips ensures that students visit major art galleries and other places relevant to their projects.

    This course has a 98% success rate 10% above the national average for students doing this type of course and last year over 50% of students went on to study at higher education level at some of the top universities in the country. Many students go on to have a careers as artists in industries such as fine art, photography, illustration, visual communication, printmaking and graphic design.

    Students will develop a diverse portfolio of creative work and an understanding of the industry as a whole. Students will have opportunities to work independently and collaboratively. To build skills and to help them achieve their best results, students will be required to undertake approximately fifteen hours of self-directed practice per week.

    In the second year of the extended programme students will be able to progress with there skills developed in the first year through specialist briefs with industry lead outcomes.

    - A studio fee to pay for materials is required, a bursary is available to help with costs if required. - We strive to support or student learning through termly trips, these will be charged per trip, bursary is available to support where needed. - A portfolio of creative work must be brought to interview - Your course will be timetabled over 3 or 4 days, with approximately 6-12 hours work of directed homework per week depending on the level of course. - Our days run from 9am to 4.45pm - Your study programme include your vocational course and also Maths, English, Digital Skills, Tutorial and Career Progression sessions, attendance to all aspects is mandatory.
  • How am I assessed?

    The University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Creative Practice Diploma is assessed through a series of projects that are designed to broaden students skills, experience and expertise. In your first year, the first 2 units are delivered with a Pass or Fail outcome, delivered across multiple projects. A final project (The FMP) decides the students overall grade for the year which is graded at: Pass, Merit or Distinction.

    The second year (Extended Diploma) is made up of another 3 units, again within multiple projects with a Pass or Fail outcome and the final unit making up the FMP for year 2, with the overall grade being either a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Student work is externally assessed and scrutinised by External Verifiers from the University of the Arts London to ensure that academic standards are adhered maintained.
