The Friday Printmaking workshop at our Amersham Campus provides a day workshop facility offering established artists and the new printmaker an opportunity to enhance and expand their print knowledge.

This printmaking course aims to provide a general overview of a number of basic printmaking techniques.During the course you will learn how to make relief prints, mono-prints, collagraphs, etchings/aquatints, dry point etchings, and more. We have a fully equipped printmaking workshop with an Albion press, (Lino cuts) a Rochat press, (Etching) and a Starwheel press for collagraphs. Students have the option to develop personal themes and ideas across the range of printmaking processes available. There is a great sense of community at the Friday Printmaking workshop and many students continue progressing in skill level.

There are some additional costs for materials but the amount charged will depend on the type and quantity of materials used in projects. This can only be priced on a per project basis. A hard-backed A3 sketchbook is essential.

As part of your programme of study, you are strongly recommended to visit galleries, museums and exhibitions, and to familiarise yourself with artists. You may need to bring in various items, e.g. postcards of artworks. You will need an A3 sketchbook to track processes and show examples of your explorations and studies. It is also advisable to get an A2 portfolio to keep your prints flat and in good condition, to transport them etc.

Experienced students already inducted in monoprint, linocut, collagraphy, etching and silkscreen printing, have the option to develop personal themes and ideas across the range of printmaking processes available.
